Progression is an interesting thing. After experimenting with mechanical watches, I’ve gravitated back into the realm of mid-range quartz. So when Wenger offered to send not one but two watches my way, I opted to sample an offering from their Urban Metropolitan line. Retailing for around $170, these Swiss-made timepieces come armed with a strong design and longstanding pedigree. But can the form live up to its function?

Review: Timex Weekender Watch

The Timex Weekender – A fixture in the timepiece community, this popular watch is worn by legions of people all around the globe. Amazon alone features nearly 5,000 consumer reviews of the product line, and forums everywhere crow about its combination of simplicity and style. So when Timex agreed to send one our way, we were anxious to strap it to our wrists. Could it live up to the hype? We spent a week with the Weekender in order to find out.

Update: Timex Expedition Scout

If you follow us on Twitter, then you know the story by now. Our beloved Timex Expedition Scout began to skip date changes and gain time about a week ago, creating concerns about its mechanical soundness. There were at least three instances of such errors, leading us to contact Timex. Then, while mulling our return or exchange options, the watch’s crown somehow disappeared. We first noticed it while walking through a department store on the way to an evening meal.
