The Timex Weekender – A fixture in the timepiece community, this popular watch is worn by legions of people all around the globe. Amazon alone features nearly 5,000 consumer reviews of the product line, and forums everywhere crow about its combination of simplicity and style. So when Timex agreed to send one our way, we were anxious to strap it to our wrists. Could it live up to the hype? We spent a week with the Weekender in order to find out.
If you only own one product from Fisher, odds are it’s a version of their iconic Bullet Space Pen. We’ve carried one for the last few months and have generally enjoyed the device. But, after perusing the company’s catalog, a different model caught our eye – The Fisher Backpacker. After a brief discussion, Fisher was kind enough to provide us with a shiny silver model for the purposes of this review. It offers all of the write-anywhere capability Space Pens are known for, with a slightly different spin on design.
In EDC (and life in general), it’s good to have backup. Such was our thinking when assembling the work kit shown below, filled with items chosen to augment our standard daily loadout. After considering several lights to back up our trusty ThruNite Ti3, we settled on the PF04 Penlight from ThorFire. With additional power and size, the PF04 has served well in its big brother role. In our world of texting, email, and digital tech, fountain pens are something of an anachronism. These large, gravity-fed writing instruments are known to leak, dry out, or otherwise fail despite their typically stratospheric price tags. And yet, there’s a huge community dedicated to the collection and use of fountain pens. We at Journeywind Junk decided to see what all the fuss was about. Armed with a charcoal black Lamy Safari, we set out to determine if this classical tool is truly suited to the modern age.

If you follow us on Twitter, then you know the story by now. Our beloved Timex Expedition Scout began to skip date changes and gain time about a week ago, creating concerns about its mechanical soundness. There were at least three instances of such errors, leading us to contact Timex. Then, while mulling our return or exchange options, the watch’s crown somehow disappeared. We first noticed it while walking through a department store on the way to an evening meal.
