If you follow us on Twitter, then you know the story by now. Our beloved Timex Expedition Scout began to skip date changes and gain time about a week ago, creating concerns about its mechanical soundness. There were at least three instances of such errors, leading us to contact Timex. Then, while mulling our return or exchange options, the watch’s crown somehow disappeared. We discovered this just yesterday on the way to an evening meal.
To say we’re disappointed doesn’t quite cover it. If you’ve read our review, you’ll know just how much we liked this particular watch. Since purchasing it in early July, it’s been a mainstay in our EDC rotation. So, we’re not ready to abandon hope just yet. We are in contact with both the retailer from which the Expedition Scout was purchased and the aforementioned manufacturer, so we may be able to get it repaired or replaced. It’s covered under Timex’s one-year warranty, so at the most we’ll have to pay shipping and handling in order to mail it to their workshop.
In the meantime, our new 5 Series Automatic from Seiko is arriving today. Stay tuned for updates.
